皮尔斯·莱恩

Piers Lane
Piers Lane, a London-based Australian pianist, is renowned for his versatility in solo, chamber, and concerto performances. With over 100 concerto works, he has performed with top orchestras and conductors like Sir Andrew Davis and Vassily Sinaisky. Lane has appeared at major festivals including Aldeburgh, Bath Mostly Mozart, and Chopin festivals in Warsaw and Paris.
He has played in over 40 countries, with notable performances at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, and London's major venues. Since 2015, Lane has been the Artistic Director of the Sydney International Piano Competition, initiating events like the 2021 Online Piano Competition and Composing the Future. He frequently judges international piano competitions, including the Menuhin and Michael Hill Violin Competitions. His collaborations with violinist Tasmin Little, actress Dame Patricia Routledge, and the Goldner String Quartet are significant. Lane is also a member of the chamber group Amici della Musica. Recent highlights include performing three concerti at Carnegie Hall and the world premieres of Carl Vine’s piano concertos.
Lane’s extensive discography with Hyperion includes rare romantic piano concertos, complete works of Malcolm Williamson, Scriabin, and transcriptions by Bach and Strauss. He has recorded volumes with the Goldner String Quartet and collaborations with Tasmin Little for Chandos. His recent releases include a follow-up to ‘Piers Goes to Town’ and an upcoming disc of Russian variations.
From 2007 to 2017, Lane was the Artistic Director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and directed Myra Hess Day at the National Gallery in London from 2006 to 2013. He has contributed over 100 programs to BBC Radio 3, including The Piano series. Lane premiered works by Brett Dean, Colin Matthews, and Carl Vine. He was honored as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for his services to the arts, and holds Honorary Doctorates from Griffith and James Cook Universities. In 2022, he received the Sir Bernard Heinz Award for his contributions to music in Australia.
