张小惠
出生于菲律宾宿务的张小惠被《美国唱片指南》赞誉为“具有非凡才能的艺术家”。他最近在Centaur唱片公司发行的专辑《伟大的俄罗斯》中,收录了柴可夫斯基的大奏鸣曲和拉赫玛尼诺夫的第一奏鸣曲,这张专辑以其深刻的诠释和技术上的精湛受到了广泛赞誉。他先前的专辑《古典元素》在《国际钢琴》杂志中获得了五星评价,并被《Fanfare》杂志称赞为极其出色的演出。他于2010年发行的致敬肖邦的专辑《夜幻想》也被《Fanfare》评为“史上最伟大的钢琴录音之一”。
目前,张小惠担任新加坡国立大学杨秀桃音乐学院钢琴系主任。他曾先后在茱莉亚音乐学院师从杰罗姆·洛文塔尔,在波士顿音乐学院师从迈克尔·莱温,并在菲律宾跟随尼塔·阿布罗加尔-昆托和内莉·卡斯特罗学习。他曾获得茱莉亚威廉·佩切克奖,并在卡尔加里(霍宁斯)、赫尔辛基(马吉·林德)和桑坦德(帕洛玛·奥谢)等国际比赛中获奖。尤其值得一提的是,他在1996年南非比勒陀利亚的UNISA国际钢琴比赛中赢得了一等奖及两项协奏曲特别奖。
张小惠以其创新性的曲目编排著称,举办过诸如“肖邦:之前与之后”和“降B调”等主题独奏会。他曾与圣彼得堡爱乐乐团、新加坡交响乐团、芬兰广播交响乐团等知名乐团合作演出,并于2005年在新加坡首演了塞缪尔·巴伯的钢琴协奏曲。
张小惠的近期录音作品包括与中提琴家张曼琴合作的勃拉姆斯中提琴奏鸣曲、与男高音艾伦·贝内特合作的舒伯特《冬之旅》、与小提琴家甘宁合作的《公路电影》,以及由Decca唱片出版发行的与大提琴家秦立巍合作的贝多芬和拉赫玛尼诺夫作品。他还与小提琴家皮埃尔·阿莫亚尔和中提琴家今井信子合作演出。
张小惠的学生在国际比赛中表现优异,并继续在北美和欧洲顶级音乐学院深造。除了教学外,他也在法国、丹麦、新西兰等多个国家的国际钢琴比赛中担任评委。
Albert Tiu
Born in Cebu, Philippines, Albert Tiu is celebrated as “an artist of uncommon abilities” by the American Record Guide. His recent Centaur recording, “Grand Russian,” featuring Tchaikovsky’s Grand Sonata and Rachmaninov’s 1st Sonata, was praised for its interpretations and technical excellence. His previous disc, “The Classical Elements,” received a 5-Star rating in International Piano and was lauded by Fanfare for its stunning performances. His 2010 tribute to Chopin, “Nocturnal Fantasies,” was deemed “one of the all-time great piano recordings” by Fanfare.
Currently the Head of Piano Studies at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, Tiu studied under Jerome Lowenthal at Juilliard, Michael Lewin at Boston Conservatory, and with Nita Abrogar-Quinto and Nelly Castro in the Philippines. He has received the Juilliard William Petschek Award and won prizes in competitions such as Calgary (Honens), Helsinki (Maj Lind), and Santander (Paloma O’Shea). Notably, he secured First Prize and two concerto prizes at the 1996 UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa.
Tiu is known for innovative programming, presenting thematic recitals like “Chopin: Before & Beyond” and “Bee Flat.” He has performed with prominent orchestras, including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the Singapore Symphony, where he gave the Singapore premiere of Samuel Barber’s Piano Concerto in 2005.
Recent recordings include collaborations with violist Zhang Manchin on Brahms Viola Sonatas, tenor Alan Bennett in Schubert’s “Winterreise,” violinist Kam Ning in “Road Movies,” and cellist Qin Li-Wei on Decca discs of Beethoven and Rachmaninov. Tiu has also performed with violinist Pierre Amoyal and violist Nobuko Imai.
His students have excelled in competitions globally and pursued further studies in North America and Europe. Besides teaching, Tiu has adjudicated international piano competitions in various countries.
